Shannon is a San Francisco-based yogini and artist. Her well-rounded vinyasa flows through creative sequencing that hones strength and flexibility in the mind, body and subtle body. She orchestrates laser pointed alignment cues with gentle assists, story-telling, visualization and meditation to cultivate a grounded expansiveness in the practitioner. Shannon’s teaching and practice are rooted in Triveni Yoga, a form that integrates the physical practices of ashtanga-based vinyasa with meditative inner practices. The Triveni method practices all 8 limbs of yoga and exploration of the subtle body as the ground for radical transformation.
Shannon's life blossomed when she allowed herself to be held in yoga. At a point of profound crisis in her life, she hit the mat hard. Yoga became the sanctuary in which she came back into her body to transform her suffering into awakening. Yoga is the foundation on which she has built a new way of life in the pursuit of happiness and freedom. Yoga revealed to her the courage to leave the Urban Design world to teach and create art.
Shannon understands that to be a great teacher is to also be continual student. With over 12 years of practice, she has a Triveni Yoga RYT500 and continues to advance her studies with its creators Jessica and Stéphane Dreyfus. She travels internationally with Triveni to contribute teaching to its 200 hour Teacher Training and conduct silent art, yoga and meditation workshops.
She also bows in gratitude to her teachers Elise Lorimer, Betty Roi, Kelly Lindsey, Geshe Michael Roach, Lama Marut, DuoDuo Tian, Ellen Huang-Saltarelli, Tara Brach, Thich Nhat Hahn, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Mary Oliver, and Carolyn Cooper for being guiding lights on her path.
